(COLUMBUS, OH) - The 2005 Columbus PACE Race has partnered with the Finish Line world Famous Pig Run to help fight prostate cancer. On July 22 at 7 p.m., hundreds of people will run or walk the 5K, starting at High and Main and finishing near the Jazz and Ribs Fest stage. Proceeds from the 5K run/walk and the 1-mile family walk will be used to raise awareness and provide screenings to fight prostate cancer on a local and national level.
"We're honored to be chosen as one of 15 cities in the country to host a PACE Race," said Mike Collins, Columbus PACE Race Director. "The festive environment that weekend will attract hundreds of people, enabling us to communicate the importance of prostate cancer screenings to a large audience.
The PACE Race Series mission is to ultimately eliminate prostate cancer by raising awareness and financial support for national research and local screening and treatment. Pre-race entry fees are $20 for the 5K and $10 for the 1-mile family walk. Race day fees will be $25 for the 5K and $15 for the walk. For more information, or to register, log onto www.pacerace.org. Race day registration will be available at California Fitness (downtown on the corner of State and High) from 5:30-6:45 p.m.
After the race, participants can peruse the PAX 51 Health & Fitness Fair and pick up important information. In addition, a Survivor's Recognition Reception will be held in the Cultural Arts Center from 7:30-9 p.m. that everyone is welcome to attend.
The Finish Line World Famous Pig Run and PACE Race will be produced by Promotions One, Inc. and Ultra-Fit USA on July 22 at 7 p.m. The Columbus PACE Race is presented by the Arthur G.
