2nd Annual PACE Race to Raise Money for Prostate Cancer Education and Treatment

Money Raised to be used for Prostate Cancer Awareness and Education

(Minneapolis, MN) - The 2005 Minneapolis PACE Race will be held on Saturday, July 30 beginning at 8 a.m. on the north end of Lake Nokomis. This year will also feature a one-mile family walk.

"One in six men in America will have prostate cancer at some point in their life. Men need to be more aware of the disease and understand the importance of early screenings," said Mary Anderson, Minneapolis PACE Race director. "This community will work hard to raise money to educate people about prostate cancer."

The PACE Race Series mission is to ultimately eliminate prostate cancer by raising awareness and financial support for screenings and treatment. Other race locations include Columbus, OH, St. Louis, MO, Pittsburgh, PA, and Denver, CO. The full 2005 PACE Series schedule will be released in the coming weeks.

Minneapolis PACE Race organizers hope to recruit 600 runners and walkers. The University of Minnesota Prostate Cancer Center will be at the race to answer participants' and spectators' prostate cancer questions.

Those interested in registering for the race should log onto www.pacerace.org or www.andersonraces.com. Early registration, before July 8, costs $15. After midnight on the 8th, the registration fee will be $20 and $25 on race day. Early registration for children or adults only participating in the walk will be $10. After July 8, the fee will be $15 and on race day entrants will have to pay $20.

Prostate cancer is second only to lung cancer in annual cancer deaths among men. In fact, more than 220,000 men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer in the USA this year and more than 31,000 will die of the disease. For more information, please visit www.pacerace.org.
